Celebration

Celebration

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.” (Psalm 105:1)
If ever there was a week to proclaim that verse, this is the week. We had a wonderful time on Sunday celebrating Shoreline’s birthday. We turned ONE, by the way! It was a special time to celebrate who we are and who we are becoming. I hope you were there, but if you weren’t, this is about more than one day.
Shoreline gathered in worship to give thanks to God. We sang about God’s goodness and faithfulness, and we listened to Jesus’ teaching and His expectations about how His followers would worship: in spirit and truth. Then, we gathered together for lunch and delicious cake! (Thank you to Mariann Shova @angelcakesbymariann.) It was our first time having lunch in the theater, and we had a great crowd.
We gave thanks to God, and we called on His name. Our celebration was not about me, as your lead pastor, or Austin, as your worship pastor. It was not about Shoreline’s faithful leadership team. Nor was it about our amazing volunteers. We do have a great worship pastor. Our leadership team is gifted and about God’s Kingdom. And our volunteers are awesome every single week. That’s NOT why we called on His name.
Followers of Jesus worship Him with passion and in the truth of His sacrifice and resurrection and His return. We are not making known our deeds, our abilities, or our successes. Shoreline is about making known God’s deeds. We want to make Jesus known. We want to celebrate Jesus and what He is doing in our lives and in the world! Shoreline is a testament to what Jesus is doing in the world, and it is a blessing and a privilege to serve Him with you.
Thank you! Thank you to our leadership team and our volunteers! Lindsey and I are grateful to work with you and for you. The entire Shoreline team is working to fulfill God’s vision for this church, and we will call on His name again and again—in good times and bad. We will give thanks together, and we will make known His deeds to all we meet.
This has been a great first year, and I pray God will give us many, many more. Keep up the good work, Shoreline! God is being praised! We are leaning on God, and others will know of His saving work in our lives and in this church. Happy Birthday to us!
Blessings to you,
Joe
